I fell in love today.
We were driving down a road in a small village in Hungary, when we saw this roadside stand.
One of my friend’s asked if we could stop, because she wanted to buy some strawberries. (Eper is Hungarian for strawberries.)
I was immediately drawn to the little lady running the stand.
Thankfully my friends could translate for us.
Turns out the fields behind her are her family’s farm. That’s her adult son way out in the fields. They grow all sorts of things there.
She was sweet enough to agree to take a picture with me.
I even watched as she was packing up the strawberries for my friend. She threw out one from the basket because it didn’t look good, and picked up another one from her case below and added it to my friend’s instead.
I bought raspberries and some homemade raspberry jam. (I am so excited for this jam!)
When we left I blew her a kiss and she smiled and blew me one back.
Who would have ever imagined that a girl who grew up in the cornfields in Ohio, in a small town that didn’t even have a stoplight, would one day be blowing kisses to this sweet lady in a Hungarian village on the other side of the world.
This world can be such a beautiful place.
